Hair Ghost
5:39am. One of my life goals is to become a prolific writer, especially in the domain of science fiction. As I have told earlier, I want to learn how to write good characters. Until now, it was a mystery to me how boys write female characters. I was reading some text and I came across a piece of literature which mentioned about the sudden jumpscare a woman’s hair can give to her. I know this sounds quite hilarious. But, think from a teenage boy’s perspective. If you aren’t familiar with what I am trying to say, women often have long hair which sometimes lingers inside their ears, though it feels like some worm crawling in. This gives an uneasy sensation which can make you suddenly jump out of your seat. I had no idea women face this very, very funny yet — I don’t know — interesting problem. Nonetheless, being vicarious has its own limits. So I planned to experience it myself.
For the last 2 to 3 months, I have not cut my hair. My hair is quite long now. In fact, it’s the longest it has ever been. In these 3 months, I suffered from common cold twice — which should be apparent if you shower daily and have long hair. Today I was finally startled by that eerie feeling of hair lingering in your ear. This project is complete. According to the plan, I should cut my hair back tomorrow. But, I like how it is. So I think I will keep my hair in such a way for some more time. It was nice to experience the small part of being a woman. Let’s see how much this contributes in making me a better writer.
